Common Betting Strategies
First you must decide what style of wagering you like. Do you want to win big? Or just win? Do you want to wager just for entertainment or to make money?
Parlays AKA “suckers bet”
Every handicapper falls into this “trap” now and again, it is a relatively low investment for a potential huge payoff, who wouldn’t like that? These can pay from 3x to 150x, or better, than your original investment. Even though the payout odds are in your favor the odds to actually win are not. For example you could go 9 for 10, 90% and still be a loser. Although the payout would be nice the chances of hitting all ten are very low.
Straight Bets “grind it out”This method is one used by many professional sports handicappers. Generally, you play one game at a time and wager the same amount on each one. If you can be correct 55%-60% of the time, over a length of time you can be a winner. Don’t get us wrong, it’s not as easy as it sounds but by using this strategy you will be rewarded with most of your correct predictions. Don’t forget the #1 rule to this strategy is discipline.
Example of Straight Betting:
- Start with a bankroll. (For example, only $500)
- Play single games. (No Parlays)
- Play each game with 10% of your bankroll. (In this case your 1st play will be $50)
- If you win your next bet will be for $55(bankroll =$550) if you lose your next bet will be $45 (bankroll=$450).
- Never go above 10% of your bankroll, even if you think you have a “lock”.
- STAY DISCIPLINED
- If you continue to hit 53% or better you will be up on “the house” and THAT is THE goal.
